About

Hello and welcome!

I’m Susan Michaud—a lifelong lover of the English language and a detail-driven copy editor and proofreader with a passion for helping authors shine.

My journey with words began long before I made it a profession. I studied English with an emphasis in secondary education at Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado, where I immersed myself in literature, honed my writing process, and worked in the university’s writing center supporting fellow students. That foundation served me well during two decades of homeschooling my three sons, where reading aloud, journaling, and writing stories were daily joys we shared.

After my youngest graduated, I realized that my knack for spotting typos and usage errors—once a distraction—could actually be a gift. So in 2020, I formalized my skills through professional editing and proofreading courses, including training with the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA). Since then, I’ve worked with authors across genres—fantasy, historical fiction, memoir, business, how-to, and more—refining manuscripts for grammar, clarity, consistency, and polish. I specialize in post-developmental editing and final proofreading, often serving as the “last set of eyes” before publication.

While launching my freelance career, I also contributed to a local newspaper in Kremmling, Colorado, where I wrote feature stories, edited articles, and collaborated on layout design. That experience sharpened my editorial instincts and deepened my appreciation for tight deadlines and clean copy.

Today, I bring that same care and precision to every project. I use Microsoft Word with Track Changes and follow The Chicago Manual of Style (18th Ed.) and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary (11th Ed.). But more than anything, I’m committed to preserving your voice while helping your writing stand out.

If you’re ready to polish your manuscript, article, or content until it sparkles—let’s get busy!
